In Toledo!

Meg and I are excited to be in Toledo, Ohio as we are part of an exciting missions convention at Calvary Assembly of God. Six missionary families are participating in the services, adding a real international flavor as the convention is emphasizing going from Jerusalem to Judea to Samaria and to the ends of the earth with the love of Jesus Christ.

Making Disciples of all Nations

The hallmark of the success of Assemblies of God missions in Africa has been largely due to the training of capable national church leaders who could in turn train others and successfully carry on the work of God (2 Tim. 2:2). The Thacker's came to Burundi with the goal of raising up and preparing capable and qualified Burundian leaders who could lead the church effectively into future growth. In a country where education is virtually non-existent, Jim & Meg had the strategic opportunity of starting one of the very first full time ministry leadership bible schools in the country. They also established an extension bible school for the pastors living deep in the interior of the country so that they could receive biblical training in their neck of the woods. These leadership training programs continue to make a difference in the lives of our pastors today.

Burundi Church Plants

Jim and Meg were able to partner with Burundians and their Mission Supporters to plant 47 churches across Burundi.

Commuting to Church in the Central African country of Burundi was an adventure of it's own. When Jim wasn't preaching and teaching he was making sure missionaries got to their intended destination.

Object Lessons are an effective way of communication in Central Africa and Meg utilized them to great effect as she ministered in churches across Burundi.
